2025
Jazz: Routine is based in jazz technique and should include elements of kicks, jumps, turns, etc.
Lyrical: Routine expresses emotion using elements of ballet and jazz technique to portray a story, connection, or lyrics.
Song and Dance: Routine must include live singing as well as dancing. No vocals may be recorded on the music track.
Street/Hip Hop: Routine is based in hip hop technique and can include all or one form(s) of street styles including locking, popping, house, etc.
Theatre/Stage: Routine based in dramatization and theatrics in a broadway/theatre style of dance. Lip Sync may or may not be used. No Live Singing.
Tap: Routine based in tap technique. No pre-recorded sounds are allowed on the music track.
Cheer/Pom: Routine derived from cheer with elements of commercial dance, strong execution of precision arm movements, formation changes, and jumps.
Contemporary: Routine based heavily in modern and ballet technique as well as including other techniques. An ever changing genre focusing on contemporary exploration and fusion in dance.
Ballet: Routine is based in classical ballet technique. Can include Character Ballet, Contemporary Ballet, Classical Ballet, etc.
AcroDance: A routine based 50% in any style of dance and 50% in acrobatic movements including tumbling, limbers, contortion, balances.
Open: Any routine that does not fit into any of the above genres.
2025
All adjudications and scores will be sent directly to studios after the end of the competition. All adjudication is final.
Bronze 70 - 74.99
Silver 75 - 79.99
High Silver 80 - 84.99
Gold 85 - 89.99
High Gold 90 - 93.99
Lightning Gold 94 - 100
Deductions: Adjudicators are entitled to deduct up to 6 points per judge per entry. 2 points for inappropriate costuming/appearance. 2 points for inappropriate music selection/swearing. 2 points for inappropriate movements. Adjudicators are also able to recommend
that a number be disqualified from placement due to not aligning with Electric Dance’s Family Friendly Policy.
Sportsmanship: Electric Dance takes sportsmanship and the environment we put our dancers in seriously. If any person(s) displays poor sportsmanship directed to other dancers, teachers, event staff, etc. the entry(s) associated with said person(s) may be disqualified. Future entry with Electric Dance Events may also be denied.
Judges Choice Awards: One entry is awarded per judge/per day
In categories of 1 - 5 entries, 1st - 3rd placements will be announced. In categories of 6 - 8 entries, 1st - 4th placements will be announced. In categories of 9 - 10 entries, 1st - 5th placements will be announced. More than 10 entries in a category will be split into two groups.
Eligibility for Finals
2024/25 Electric Dance Finals are in Benidorm, Spain! May 30 to June 1, 2025
All solo/duo/trio/groups/freestyle who place in a 1st, 2nd, 3rd are eligible to enter. To be eligible to enter into Finals, a minimum mark of 80 must be attained and the entry must have competed at one of our regional events.
